Christmas is coming…

the-lodge-old-hunstanton-christmasOK, we know September’s just started, but for those charged with organising friends and family get-togethers, or the company ‘do’, time is fast running out.

The Lodge’s popular party nights – which this year take place on Saturday 10, Friday 16 and Saturday 17 December and include a free disco – are a great solution, but what makes a great party? Well, we may be biased, but in our opinion it’s the perfect blend of good food, drinks choices, ambience and, of course guests…

  1. Food, glorious food
This time of year is packed with rich, indulgent foods and the Christmas party should be no exception. There are two distinct camps – those who favour turkey with all the trimmings (and at The Lodge we don’t skimp with our Norfolk black turkey breast, goose fat roasted potatoes and all the Christmas trimmings), and those who prefer to hold out until the big day. For the latter, we also offer a delicious slow braised bavette of English beef, a fantastic pan-fried fillet of sea bass (well we are at the coast, after all) and a delicious galette of local wild mushrooms, so nobody misses out on a fabulous meal on their night out.
  2. Raise a glass!
Just like the menu, there needs to be a good selection on offer to appeal to all tastes. Whether you cater for a Champagne celebration, be sure to ensure there are some original wine picks, local brewed lagers and ales and a special soft drink selection on offer. It goes without saying that at The Lodge, we’ve got all options covered.
  3. What an atmosphere…
Get everyone into party mood at the outset by pulling a cracker or party popper (all taken care of at The Lodge’s party nights!). But why not add a fun Gift Exchange to the night? Ask everyone to purchase a gift (with a fixed price limit) and wrap it ahead of the event. On the day, each guest selects a number, with #1 getting first pick of the lavish looking presents. However, #2 can choose a new gift from the sack or ‘steal’ #1’s gift instead – in this case, #1 gets to pick again. Each guest takes their turn to pick a present or swipe someone else’s, which becomes comical if a particular prize is regarded as a hot item or novelty. Good fun to get the party started!
  4. Who’s coming?
Whether you are picking your party guests, or gathering the troops, be sure to ask your invites to ‘save the date’ as early as possible. By planning ahead and letting everyone know the chosen date there’s a good chance you’ll have a full table and stacks of fun that makes it a party to remember.
