We’re all about keeping it local at The Lodge – local meat, fish, seafood, produce, ales and now herbs.
We recently set about transforming part of our courtyard into a pretty herb garden for the kitchen team to pick from when cooking. The courtyard is surrounded by some of our fabulous rooms, which have transformed some of the pub’s original outbuildings – the Garden Shed, the Bottle Store and the Coal Bunker which features an amazing jacuzzi bath.
In the summer, the courtyard is a gorgeous little suntrap and, as each room has its own outdoor seating, guests find it a delightful spot to relax with early morning coffee or after a day on the beach – it’s so peaceful, it’s the perfect antidote away from the crowds.
We also figured it would be a fantastic location for our herb bed, with plants that thrive in bright sunny spots. The Lodge’s Ground Force team set to work and in just two hours, we’d dug, planted, watered and tidied with a transformation that Alan Titchmarsh would be proud of. After all that work, we enjoyed being watered ourselves, with a refreshing glass in the bar. Work hard, play hard, that’s our philosophy to life.
